Getting Started

Download & Install

Download Dictation Daddy for your platform and follow the installation prompts. Available on Mac, Windows, Chrome, and Android.

Go to Downloads

Start Dictating

Press the global hotkey (Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows, Cmd+Shift+Space on Mac) to start dictating. Speak naturally — Dictation Daddy will auto-punctuate and format your text.

Custom Vocabulary

Add names, technical terms, and jargon to your custom vocabulary so Dictation Daddy gets them right every time. Go to Settings > Custom Vocabulary in the app.

Templates

Create reusable templates for emails, reports, and more. Start your dictation with a template trigger word and the template will be applied automatically.

Troubleshooting

Dictation Daddy isn't picking up my voice

Make sure your microphone is selected in Settings > Audio. Check that microphone permissions are granted in your system settings. Try restarting the app.

Text isn't being typed into my app

Dictation Daddy uses accessibility features to type into apps. On Mac, ensure Dictation Daddy has Accessibility permissions in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. On Windows, try running the app as Administrator.

Transcription accuracy is low

Try speaking closer to your microphone, reducing background noise, or using a dedicated microphone. You can also add commonly misheard words to your Custom Vocabulary.

Chrome extension isn't working

Refresh the page after installing the extension. Make sure the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions. Some pages (like chrome:// URLs) don't allow extensions to run.

The app is using too much battery

Dictation Daddy only uses resources while actively transcribing. If you notice high battery usage, check that dictation isn't accidentally left running. Update to the latest version for performance improvements.
